But I was heart broken that all of the birds are facing the same way, despite almost all pulls being used in symmetrical sets. I suppose I shouldn't have presumed that it would have both. But there are no sets available in the other direction!! For me, this is the /only/ thing keeping it from 5 stars.
Just enough space on the head and tail to grab and pull; the substantial weight and solid cast iron really help me feel confident that they will last a long time. Don't use this for anything with tough resistance, as that it's hardly ergonomically designed for comfort. The lack of screws is understandable (differing thicknesses for folk). And there was a slight variance in the quality of the edges from the mold. Not terribly noticeable from afar, but it can be seen & felt by the neurotic. :)
SHIPPING: 0 star. Tidy in a small box. I recall the shipping being reasonable given the weight. A thin (but apparently adequate) paper lining between pulls kept them from damaging each other.
PERSONAL USE: I spray painted mine with a thin wispy coat of sage green, which worked very well. I left shades of the original dark tones to add definition and character. While I like hardware stores, I was new to the concept of futzing with pull screws. For other folk, this wouldn't be a problem at all. Just be sure that you know the width of your drawers/cabinet doors!!!! Take the bird and a measuring tape with you, try various screws until you find the one that works.
