First, the hole for the metal cap and wire is only about 3/8" but appears much bigger in the photo. Perhaps it is the 2" ball shown. A 3/4" hole would have been better for my use but I can adapt. Still, I took a point off as there should be a picture of the actual item.
The frost is a plastic coating on the outside and will scratch if you are not careful. It may be acrylic. Clear glass underneath. Once again, not a problem for me unless it doesn't age well. It does seem to make them stronger. I wonder if the clear glass balls from the same company have a coating too.
I will be lighting these from within with leds and will post a photo of the fixture when it is complete.
They shipped quickly and were well packed.
